How to keep clients

Once you've landed those clients, of course, the real work begins. Keep them happy by being responsive and available to talk with them as often as they want.

"You can't charge for every minute of your time," says Pacific Medical's Joanne Mitchell. "Talking to people for free is one of the best marketing tools a consultant has. You create a lot of good will when you let them take you out for a 'test drive.'"
